Pay: $35.00 - $40.00 /hour
Schedule: Monday – Friday (day shift), with flexibility for occasional weekends is required
Shifts: Preferred 8:00 AM – 5:00 PM PST (flexible start time for the right candidate)
Location: Fully Remote (PST time zone required)
Duration: 8 weeks initially, with potential for extension or temp-to-hire based on business needs

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONSEducation Qualifications
High School Diploma or GED required
Licenses and Certifications (Required)
One of the following credentials:
RHIA – Registered Health Information Administrator
RHIT – Registered Health Information Technician
CCS – Certified Coding Specialist
Experience:
Minimum 3 years of inpatient coding experience in an academic medical center
Strong experience with ICD-10-CM/PCS, MS-DRG, and APR-DRG assignment
Experience using Epic and Solventum (3M) coding applications
Knowledge of CCI, CMS, POA indicators, Hospital Acquired Conditions (HACs), Patient Safety Indicators (PSIs), NCDs/LCDs, and coding compliance regulations
Ability to work independently while maintaining productivity and quality standards
Responsibilities
Review inpatient medical records and accurately assign ICD-10-CM/PCS diagnosis and procedure codes.
Assign the correct MS-DRG/APR-DRG, discharge disposition, source of admission, and POA indicators.
Abstract required clinical and demographic data accurately according to facility guidelines.
Ensure timely coding of discharged-not-billed accounts to support revenue cycle operations.
Collaborate with Clinical Documentation Specialists (CDS) and providers to clarify documentation when needed.
Maintain departmental productivity expectations of approximately 2 charts per hour (14 charts per day) while meeting quality standards.
Utilize coding software including Epic, Solventum (3M) Encoder, Audit Expert, CDIS, and Microsoft Office applications.
Apply current ICD-10 coding guidelines, Coding Clinic guidance, CMS regulations, and AHIMA Code of Ethics.
Demonstrate strong analytical, organizational, critical thinking, and communication skills while working independently.
