MINMUM QUALIFICATIONS
High School Diploma or GED equivalent
Active and valid LVN license (CA Board of Vocational Nursing)
1-2 years of nursing experience in a healthcare setting
Previous flu/Vaccine clinic experience
Knowledge of medical protocols, nursing policies, and procedures
Comfortable administering vaccines to patients ages 6 months through adults.
Strong communication and documentation skills
Ability to work collaboratively in a team environment
Basic Life Support - American Heart Association
Preferred:
EPIC experience (highly preferred)
Experience in supporting physicians and RNs in diagnostic or therapeutic procedures
Bilingual skills for working with diverse patient populations
Required Knowledge, Skills and Ability:
Clinical Knowledge: Strong understanding of nursing practices, medical protocols, and LVN scope of practice as defined by the California Board of Vocational Nursing.
Medication Administration: Ability to safely prepare, administer, and record oral and injectable medications.
Patient Care Skills: Proficiency in obtaining vital signs, collecting specimens, performing basic diagnostic tests, and assisting with procedures.
Observation and Reporting: Skill in recognizing changes in patient conditions, accurately documenting findings, and reporting to RNs or physicians.
Communication: Clear, professional verbal and written communication skills with patients, families, and healthcare team members.
Patient interaction: Empathy, patience, and the ability to provide emotional support while ensuring patient dignity and comfort.
Teamwork. Ability to collaborate effectively with RNs, physicians, and other healthcare staff in a fast-paced environment.
Adaptability: Flexibility to adjust to changing patient needs, priorities, and clinical workflows.
Organization: Strong attention to detail, time management, and ability to handle multiple tasks simultaneously.
Job Requirements:
Administers nursing care to patients according to physician's and Registered Nurse's instructions and approved nursing and departmental policies and procedures; as a team member, participates in planning and maintaining nursing care plans assists physician in the performance of diagnostic and therapeutic procedures and treatments; prepares, administers and records ordered medications and injections.
Instructs and counsels patients relative to physical self-care and emotional needs concerning tests and specimen collections.
Keep accurate records of administration of medications and treatments; makes reports of patient's progress towards goals; maintains medical records in order to meet legal requirements and provide reference for follow-up of patients' treatment and care.
Maintain a safe, secure and clean environment; maintains adequate supplies and equipment in assigned area.
Provides direct patient care to make patient clean and comfortable; may serve and feed patients; may assist patient with elimination functions.
Recognizes and understands the effect of social and economic problems as well as cultural backgrounds and religious affiliations of patients and their families.
Screens patients by obtaining histories; observes, reports and records physiological and psychological signs, symptoms and behaviors; takes vital signs; obtains specimens and may perform some required nursing diagnostic tests.
Understands human relationships between patients, families and other health care personnel.
When working in specialized areas, and after training in special procedures pertaining to such areas, performs specialized procedures as approved by nursing service policy.
